MIRPOWER performed a technical impact assessment for the planned 220 kV overhead transmission line and the expansion of the Chopon Ota 220 kV substation in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. The study reviewed the interaction between high-voltage power infrastructure and the existing Chopon Ota drinking water intake facilities. The assessment considered route alignment, substation expansion boundaries, access requirements, water supply infrastructure, and potential engineering constraints. Particular attention was given to maintaining the safety, reliability, and continuity of drinking water supply during project development and future operation. The results confirmed that the planned works can be implemented with appropriate engineering, protection, and coordination measures.
